Elayne Is Now on WordPress.org
Built on What We Learned in years passed
Elayne was not our first public FSE block theme. We learned a lot from the past, themes we build or customized — what patterns businesses actually use, what you can use, reuse properly, where FSE falls short, and how to structure a theme that scales across industries. Elayne is the result of that work.
As of March 19, 2026, Elayne is listed on WordPress.org. You can install it directly from Appearance → Themes → Add New in any WordPress 6.6+ site — no download, no upload, no manual steps.
103 Patterns Across Four Industry Verticals
The pattern library is the core of Elayne. It ships with 103 professionally designed patterns and 14 page and post templates covering the layouts most business sites actually need.
Beyond general-purpose patterns — hero sections, pricing tables, testimonials, team grids, CTAs, contact forms, FAQ, portfolio — Elayne includes four complete industry-specific sets:
- Food & Beverage (14 patterns) — menus, chef profiles, events grid, hours & location, hero sections, and a dedicated header with top bar. Includes the Food & Beverage style variation with Anton/Asap Condensed fonts and an emerald & cream palette.
- Legal Services (9 patterns) — attorney profiles, practice area showcases, case statistics, client testimonials, and contact sections optimized for law firms.
- Plumbing / Home Services (9 patterns) — a full site set: header, hero, services grid, stats bar, why-us section, testimonials, emergency CTA, contact, and footer. Includes a navy & amber style variation with emergency-red accents.
- Spa & Wellness (3 patterns) — calming palettes, treatment showcases, and booking CTAs.
Six Style Variations
Instead of a separate theme for each niche, Elayne ships with six style variations — complete design systems that switch color palettes, typography, and spacing in one click from Appearance → Editor → Styles:
- Ink & Sand (default) — clean, modern, works for most businesses
- Food & Beverage — emerald & cream, Anton/Asap Condensed
- Plumbing — navy, amber & emergency-red for trade services
- Spa & Wellness — teal & sage, Cormorant Garamond & Quicksand
- Legal Blue — professional, trustworthy
- Publicist — indigo & violet with Bodoni Moda serif for publications and blogs
32 CSS Block Styles — No JavaScript
Elayne includes 32 interactive block styles built entirely in CSS — hover effects, animations, and transitions with zero JavaScript. Apply them to any block via the Styles panel in the editor: six button effects, seven card and group effects, nine image effects, and ten text and link effects.
The Elayne Blocks Plugin
WordPress.org theme review guidelines prohibit custom block registration in themes. Rather than removing the functionality, we split it into a free companion plugin: Elayne Blocks. It adds five custom Gutenberg blocks that work with any theme:
- Mega Menu — multi-column dropdown navigation built on the WordPress Interactivity API
- Carousel + Slide — touch-enabled content carousels via Slick
- FAQ Tabs — tabbed FAQ with accordion-style answers
- Search Overlay Trigger — customizable search overlay with smooth animations, mobile-optimized
Performance and Accessibility
No jQuery. No page builder overhead. Elayne uses Mona Sans as the primary variable font with fluid responsive scaling — one font file, every weight. The theme is WCAG 2.1 AA accessible by default with semantic HTML and full keyboard navigation.
